The national oil spill commission has made headlines last week for its reports that heavily criticizedthe Obama administration for its response to the Gulf oil spill. The reports laid out in detail a number of missteps that federal agencies made in the weeks after the spill, though the White House downplayed the findingsand raised questions about their veracity.
But at the fourth meeting of the oil spill commission today — during which the commission discussed potential recommendations — commissioners did not comment on the reports or the White House’s response.
William Reilly, co-chair of the commission, did ask that people keep perspective on the goals of the commission. “I would just for my own part like to make clear that one needs to keep perspective on this and realize that we’re really here because we think these problems can be solved,” he said.
