If you are a dedicated reader of The Washington Independent, you are likely aware that three weeks ago financial constraints led to the loss of its talented staff. We here at the American Independent News Network understand that The Washington Independent of old is near impossible to emulate. Yet we also understand the need for comprehensive news coverage, especially of our elected leaders, throughout the country. Realizing the network needed a spot to harness the vast amount of reporting done by our affiliates throughout the country, The American Independent was born in May of this year. And now The American Independent will be the source of reporting that will appear on a newly designed version of TWI, which will include the invaluable archives of past TWI reporting.
