Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorumhas confirmed that he will attend the Conservative Principles Conference at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown on March 26. The event is organized by the leadership political action committee of U.S. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa).
Santorum, who is expected to seek the Republican presidential nomination, is not the only big-name Republican that will attend the event. U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) will serve as the keynote speaker. King has said other potential 2012 presidential hopefuls have also been invited, although no names have been released.
This would be Santorum’s third visit to the Hawkeye State since the midterm elections. He recently announced the hiring of Nick Ryan and Jill Lathamas advisers to his political action committee. Both work for the consulting firm Concordia Group LLC, and both are associated with the controversial political nonprofit American Future Fund, an organization Ryan founded in 2008.
