The eight undocumented youth who have been protesting in Atlanta were arrested late this afternoon.
Samantha Nawrocki, a spokesperson for One Michigan, said the youth were arrested shortly before 4 p.m. They were protestinga Georgia law which bans undocumented youth from attending state universities.
“Yes, all eight have been arrested,” Nawrocki said. “What we don’t know is when or if they will be turned over to ICE.”
Previous protesters from the group have been arrested in Tucson, AZ and Washington, D.C. After they were arraigned on local charges Immigration and Customs Enforcement have then detained the youth and begun deportation proceedings.
