American Tradition Partnership (ATP), which, along with its sister nonprofit Western Tradition Partnership, has a long history of controversial campaign tactics in Colorado, issued a release on Monday in response to a facebook posting by Gingrichabout his expected official announcement on Wednesday.
“I have been humbled by all the encouragement you have given me to run,” Gingrich wrote on his Facebook page. “Thank you for your support. Be sure to watch Hannity this Wednesday at 9pm ET/8pm CT. I will be on to talk about my run for President of the United States.”
ATP, which last month sued Coloradoin a bid to roll back the state’s renewable energy standard, fired off this indictment of Gingrich:
“American Tradition Partnership welcomes Newt Gingrich’s entry into the Democrat presidential primary, where his decades-long record of radical ‘green’ activism will make for a close contest between he and President Obama for the liberal base,” ATP executive director Donald Ferguson said in a release.
ATP previously went after Gingrichin February at the Conservative Political Action Conference for his support of former Vice President Al Gore’s Alliance for Climate Protection. Ferguson brought it up again Monday:
“Gingrich’s 2008 TV ad he recorded at the request of Al Gore, where he snuggles on a love seat with Nancy Pelosi and blames the American economy for so-called ‘global warming’ is the kind of manifesto that really speaks to radical environmentalists.”
