Former Gov. Jennifer Granholm has some harsh words for GOP candidates for president Tuesday after Chrysler announced it had paid back its debt to the government. On her Facebook page, Granholm posted the following:
“But it wasn’t just Mitt Romney—Tim Pawlenty, Newt Gingrich and scores of Republicans opposed the effort to save the American automobile industry. They said it would fail. Wouldn’t work they said. It would hasten the demise of the industry. They were wrong—flat wrong—and people should really ask if that’s the judgment we want in the Oval Office.”
Chrysler is expected to announce it has paid offthe debt to the U.S. government later Tuesday.
Part of the attack is directed at Romney, who said the bail out would fail and it was something he would never do. He did an opinion piece in the New York Times arguing that the country should allow the auto industry to go bankrupt. The Democratic National Committee launched this YouTube videoshowing GOP candidates for President Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty and Newt Gingrich slamming the bail out.
