A scratched back is scratching back. One of the first candidates endorsed by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Clute) in 2008 has been named the chair of Paul’s presidential campaign in New Hampshire.
The New Hampshire Union Leaderreports that state Sen. Jim Forsythe(R-Stafford) is leading Paul’s official efforts in the key primary state. The announcement comes four years after Forsythe headed up New Hampshire’s largest Paul for President Meetup.comgroup, which served as the vehicle for unofficial activities in support of Paul’s candidacy.
In March 2008, Paul gave his official endorsement to Forsythe’s congressional bid. Forsythe was the first congressional candidate to be endorsed by Paul, and was one of the first two federal candidates to get Paul’s official seal of approval that year, along with Murray Sabrinfor U.S. Senate in New Jersey. Forsythe — an entrepreneur, who like Paul is a U.S. Air Force veteran — dropped out of the race after a couple of months due to a lack of resources, while Sabrin — a finance professor — was defeated in the GOP primary. Federal Election Commissionrecords show Forsythe raised about $100,000 in his short-lived bid for one of New Hampshire’s two U.S. House seats.
In 2010, Forsythe won a seat in New Hampshire’s state Senate. Also joining Forsythe on Paul’s New Hampshire team is freshman New Hampshire state Rep. Norman Tregenza, who was a Paul campaign staffer in 2008.
