Wyoming won’t require disclosure of fracking chemicals

Though several states, including Michigan, have decided to require natural gas companies to disclose the chemicals they use in hydrofracking, many of those state regs have loopholes in them.
Michigan only requires disclosure of more than 10,000 pounds of chemicals stored on site. Wyoming, on the other hand, is just exempting certain chemicalsfrom disclosure upon request by the companies.
“„Wyoming regulators have agreed to keep secret the identities of 146 chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing since disclosure rules went into effect nearly a year ago, according the the state’s oil and gas supervisor.
“„The Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission granted the trade secret exemptions to 11 companies, said Tom Doll, commission supervisor.
Wyoming was the first state to require disclosure. Michigan joined them earlier this year.
