Unemployment claims slightly less than last week

There was little improvement in the unemployment picture this week as the latest Department of Labor report shows new weekly unemployment claims virtually unchanged from last week at 428,000, only slightly less than last week’s 429,000. This was the 12th straight week that new unemployment claims have been over 400,000, leaving the four-week average at 426,250.
