Planned Parenthood is a national chain of women’s health care clinics that is frequently under attack by anti-abortion groups because some of the clinics provide legal abortions.
Florida Congressman Cliff Stearns, R-Ocala, has asked the president of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, for the organization’s financial and policy records as part of an investigation into the chain of clinics. Stearns chairs a subcommittee on oversight and investigations in the U.S. House. Stearns was asked to look into Planned Parenthood by Americans United for Life, an anti-abortion rights group that put together a reportwith the aim of convincing members of Congress to defund Planned Parenthood.
Johnson has become a starin the anti-abortion movement for leaving her job as a director of a Planned Parenthood in Texas. She now travels the country speaking out against the organization on behalf of crisis pregnancy centers. She claims to have decided to leave her job after viewing a sonogram of an abortion.
In her keynote speech today, Johnson said there are a lot of great things happening for CPC advocates.
Johnson told the crowd that Planned Parenthood is “used to being attacked” and that the organization would not “take this sitting down, because it hits them in their money.”
She also said that the organization is “working with the devil,” which is why “they are always under attack.” She encouraged conference attendees to aggressively compete with Planned Parenthood.
“We are competing with one of the largest industries in the country,” she said, “and the most evil.”
She told the crowd they “were born to fight against the enemy” and they will ultimately “win this war.”
