A new poll from EPIC-MRA has found that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a Republican, holds a slight lead over President Barack Obama in the state in next year’s presidential election.
The poll of 600 likely voters, with a margin of error of four points, found that 46 percent of respondents supported or leaned towards supporting Romney while 41 percent supported or leaned toward supporting Obama, reportsthe Lansing State Journal.
The poll also found the May approval bounce Obama got after the military raid that killed Osama bin Laden has evaporated. In May, Obama had a 50 percent approval rating with a 41 percent disappoval. Now his favorable and unfavorable ratings are tied at 47 percent.
Romney’s father George was governor of Michigan from 1963 to 1969. Mitt served three terms as governor of Massachusetts. Under his leadership the state passed a health care reform law which has been the target of the field of GOP hopefuls.
