With the deadline for filing campaign finance reports this week, Sen. Debbie Stabenow announcedthat she raised $1 million for next year’s election, matching her chief Republican competitor, Rep. Pete Hoekstra.
Hoekstra also raised a million dollarsduring the quarter, while his chief rival for the GOP nomination, Clark Durant, raised $750,000. There is one key difference, however: Stabenow doesn’t have to spend her money on a primary campaign. She now has more than $4 million in the bank for the general election next year.
