It appears former Republican 1st Congressional District candidate Steve Rathje is preparing for another run at the nomination — this time to take on U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley (D-Waterloo) in the newly redistributed 1st District.
Rathje, who in 2010 ran for the Republican nomination in the 1st Congressional District, raised $76,402 in the third quarter. He spent $655 and had $79,629 on hand at the end of the period.

It’s the first time Rathje’s raised money in this election cycle, suggesting he’ll take another run at the Republican nomination in 2012.
Ben Lange, who won the 2010 Republican primary in the district, has said he will challenge Braley againin 2012 but did not raise any money in the quarter. His committee has $3,559 cash on hand.
Braley raised $278,072 in the third quarter, spent $130,751 and had $453,182 on hand at the end of the period. Braley took $223,910 from individuals and $54,125 from political committees.
