Protesters with Occupy Kalamazoo approached the Kalamazoo City Commission on Monday night to ask the city to waive a $500 daily reservation fee and to waive an ordinance which prohibits sleeping in city parks between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
The protest in Kalamazoo has been going on since Saturday, but while some protesters have stayed overnight in Bronson Park, they have not slept there, the paper reports.
Occupiers in Grand Rapids were bootedfrom a city park last week when city officials invoked a similar ordinance.
In Lansing, which also prohibits sleeping in the parks, Mayor Virg Bernero has given protesters permission to camp in Reutter Park in downtown Lansing. Protesters have been camped out in the park for over a week.
