Michele Bachmannhas confirmed that she will speak at the Values Voters Summit in Washington, DC, in October. Bachmann has attended the summit, put together by the Family Research Council, an organization that is listed as a hate groupby the Southern Poverty Law Center, for the past four years. First hosted in 2006, it gathers Christian conservatives from around the country to strategize on issues such as opposing abortion and LGBT rights.
Along with FRC, the summit is also being organized by another group that the SPLC has labeled a hate group, the American Family Association.
Two other presidential candidates, Ron Paul and Rick Santorum, will be speaking at the summit as well, along with top national Republicans. Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Rep. Steve King of Iowa are also speaking.
