Last night’s GOP presidential debate in Michigan featured nine candidates vying for the party’s nomination in 2012. Among the participants were U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Texas Governor Rick Perry, two candidates who have seen their respective campaigns reach considerable buzz and hype, followed by an equally impressive drop-off in attention and perceived viability as frontrunners in the race to face President Obama. According to a new Gallup poll, only 9 percent (for Perry) and 3 percent (for Bachmann) of Republican voters see them as the likely candidate to receive the nomination.
