McCain Camp Inhibits Reporters From Speaking to People

BLUE BELL, Pa. — The McCain campaign is apparently not relaxing its tight control of the press.
Just before Sen. John McCain was scheduled to speak at a rally at Montgomery County Community College this morning, a McCain campaign aide stopped two reporters from interviewing attendees on the other side of the barricade that separates the press from the audience.
A local reporter said he was told not to interview audience members before the rally but was unclear exactly why he couldn’t.
The policy effectively bars members of the the national press from speaking to their local counterparts because they are often ushered out of the venue immediately after a rally concludes.
In the aftermath of ugly comments from the crowd at recent McCain campaign rallies and town hall meetings, the campaign may have an interest in preventing the national press from interviewing certain people in the crowd.
