Following up on yesterday’s postconcerning how Sen John McCain’s transition-team chief had ties to Saddam Hussein (!), a McCain spokesman named Ben Porritt responded on MSNBC by telling the bald-faced lie that, “We’ve had no associations with any lobbyists on our campaign.”

Points for chutzpah! McCain’s campaign is runby a Freddie Mac lobbyist whose company got paid $15,000 to do nothing but have the guy hang around John McCain. The Washington Post even ran a frontpage piece in February detailing all of McCain’s ties to lobbyists. (Charlie Black! Mark McKinnon! Steve Schmidt!) You can see why the McCain people want this election to be about violent hippies. (Oh, sorry, “terrorists.”)
