Sen. Barack Obama delivered his closing argument in New Hampshire on Thursday, casting his final debate with Sen. John McCain as proof that the Republican will only give the country more of President George W. Bush’s failed policies.
I wrote about Obama’s address livefrom the small apple barn where he spoke to supporters, but now you don’t even need media coverage to see the raw campaign footagein real time.
The Obama campaign has always prioritized YouTube as a tool to reach voters directly, gingerly routing around the media filter (rather than simply lamenting it, as some politicians do). Yet now, in the campaign homestretch, Obama’s web aides are really outdoing themselves.
The video of the new section of Obama’s New Hampshire speech was available within hours of his event Thursday. Other events around the country are piling up on Obama’s channel, from surrogate speeches to grass-roots gatherings. And while the campaign hammered McCain with a policy-oriented TV ad teeing off the third presidential debate, it used YouTube to circulate a harder-edged iteration of the same message, swapping in a McCain interview with Bill O’Reilly that is more likely to spark viral interest online.
Below is the speedy speech clip, followed by Obama YouTube videos — from the last two days alone — that are currently below the media radar.*
