John Conyers, (D-Mi.) has been relentless in his efforts to bring top Bush administration figures before his House Judiciary Committee. The Politico’s Ryan Grim reportsthat Conyers is now after Karl Rove. "We’re closing in on Rove," Conyers was overhead saying this afternoon. "Someone’s got to kick his ass."
Conyers then told Politico what he would do if Rove doesn’t testify. "We’ll hold him in contempt." Conyers said. "Either that or go have him arrested."
The Michigan Democrat mostly wants to grill Rove on the Justice Dept’s prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Seigelman. But there are other questions Conyers has for Rove. "We want him for so many things," he told Politico. "It’s hard to keep track."
Conyers recently got John Ashcroft, John Yoo, Doug Feith and David Addington to agree to testify June 26 about their respective roles in authorizing the administration’s detainee interrogation policies.
