Well, one thing Hillary Clinton’s gas-tax holiday proposal has done effectively is excite environmentalists to rally for her opponent. Friends of the Earth, a Washington-based group, announced over the weekend that it would endorse Barack Obama for president.
More recently, the group launched a Web adaccusing Clinton of "pandering for votes and not telling the truth."
Brent Blackwelder, Friends of the Earth president, said in a statement:
The "gas tax holiday" debate is a defining moment in the presidential race. The two other candidates responded with sham solutions that won’t ease pain at the pump, but Senator Obama refused to play that typical Washington game.
We’ll know better tomorrow how effective "that typical Washington game" actually is.
