If campaign rallies were music, reported Trip Jennings of The New Mexico Independent, the crowd of 25,000-plus Obama supporters in Albuquerque on Saturdaywas“a rollicking party tune,” while the McCain rally in the city, attended by 1,000 people, was “a solemn ballad.”
In Denver, Sen. Barack Obama attracted an estimated 100,000 people, a crowd that campaign workers said was the largest U.S. Obama rally ever,exceeded only by the 200,000 who heard Obama’s speech in Berlin this summer. In Iowa, a defiant Sen, John McCain vowed not to surrender and Gov. Sarah Palin got a rock star welcomein Des Moines. But polls indicate Obama has a 15-point lead in the state.
