It looks like former Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.) is getting ready to throw his hat into the presidential contest.
Reason’s David Weigel is reporting that Barr will announce his exploratory committee on Saturday in Kansas City, at the Heartland Libertarian Conference.
Despite Mike Gravel’s recent debut as a libertarian candidate, an announcement by Barr would make him the immediate frontrunner in the race for the Libertarian nomination. The party is on the ballot in 45 states.
For a short course on Barr, check out his BobBarr.org, including his blog, "where experience, logic and ideas trump political correctness and the status quo every time."
Could this be the American president Americans have been waiting for?
