The National Rifle Association and its allies in the Interior Department are pushing forwardwith efforts to allow visitors to National Parks to carry guns along with their tents, sleeping bags and copies of “Zen in the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.”
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Ok) has introduced legislation that would prohibit Interior from regulating guns in the parks, and the Interior Department says it’s considering a rule change to loosen gun restrictions. A lot of park service employees and tree-hugging types don’t likethe idea of pistol-packing in the parks.
