For the first two hours of the baseball steroid hearing, witness Charles Scheeler, a chief investigator in the Mitchell Report, didn’t say a word.
Pennsylvania Democrat Paul Kanjorski good-naturedly tells Scheeler, “We’re going to let you talk so you’re not a potted plant.”
But the conversation quickly turns. Scheeler says the Mitchell Report is entirely true but then admits that a meeting between Clemens and Jose Canseco included in the report may not have occurred.
Scheeler laments that it would have really helpful if a lot more baseball players cooperated with the report. Kanjorski booms that it also would have been helpful if God provided information. But instead Mitchell and his investigators relied on one witness, McNamee, for their most scandalous findings.
