A new appeal from Erick Erickson and RedState.com just hit my inbox, taking the wood to National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas):
“„John Cornyn voted for Timothy Geithner to be Treasury Secretary. Call Senator Cornyn at (202) 224-2934. Ask him how we can trust him with our money to fund Senate races if we can’t trust him to vote against tax cheats for Treasury Secretary.
Can anyone figure out Cornyn’s strategy? So far it seems to be: Release a tough press release, get on TV, take a stand against some Democratic nominee, and then vote for him or her anyway.
So far into his tenure as NRSC chairman his strategy has resulted in failing to secure Jeb Bush for the Florida Senate race, failing to get Colorado’s attorney general into that Senate race, and failing to get Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) to retire so a stronger Republican can run. Oh, and threatening to filibuster Al Franken if he tries to take the Senate seat he won. I suppose that’s actually been effective.
