The Wall Street Journal postsa scare story today outlining fears of Democratic Sen. Barack Obama’s supposedly interventionist, big government economic activism. Never mind that Charles Morris already exploredObama’s economic agenda, minus the hysteria, on our site on Monday. Here’s my favorite part of the WSJ piece:
Sen. Obama is proposing to use the government to remake economic policies in a way that hasn’t been seen in Washington in decades.
Really? What about just last March, when the government stepped in to bail out Bear Stearns? How about the rescueplanfor Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? There weren’t big-government Democrats at the helm, taking unprecedented steps to involve themselves in the private markets. As one analyst explainedto me back in March, the Federal Reserve was tearing pages from a book that hadn’t been opened since the Great Depression in shoring up Bear Stearns.
And after all of that the Wall Street Journal is worried about Obama? Really?
