It was a full six days ago that Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) went after the stimulus packagefor not allowing money to spent renovating a “sectarian instruction, religious worship or a school or department of divinity.”
It took five more days for Mike Huckabee to discover this and tell his grassroots supportersto pick up the cross.
“You would think the ACLU drafted this bill,” the former Arkansas governor writes.
He urges people to protest to their members of Congress in the short term. “In the long term, we need to kick the Democrats out of Congress,” he says.
I’d been hearing a lot of scaremongering about the Freedom of Choice Act (not yet introduced in Congress) to get social conservatives wound up about President Obama, but it seems like the great Seminary-Trashing Stimulus of 2009 was the first meme that really made the rounds.
