Either it was very timely or very untimely.
This afternoon, we ran a storyon a controversial provision in the Senate stimulus bill providing a $15,000 tax credit for homebuyers. No more than 25 minutes after we published, congressional leaders announced that the differences between the House and Senate bills had been ironed out, and it seems that the Senate’s homebuyer tax credit provision didn’t makethe final cut.
No word yet on whether the smaller House-passed credit — which would provide a $7,500 tax rebate for first time homebuyers with incomes below $150,000 — is in the final bill. We’ll update when we know.
