Via Accountable America. The filmmakers behind the 2002 documentary “The Weather Underground” have sent a “cease and desist” letter to the American Issues Project, which they say illegally used copyrighted footage from the film in its ad tying Sen. Barack Obama to former Weatherman Bill Ayers. ( I discuss the ad and the Obama-Ayers link in depth here.)
The letter from The Free History Project, which owns the rights to “The Weather Underground,” demands AIP immediately pull the ad from the airwaves — it is reportedly airing in Ohio and Michigan — as well as from the AIP Website, and threatens legal action for non-compliance.
