Case in point: via TAPPED’s Alexandra Gutierrez, it appears a pilot freaked outafter seeing a bike decorated by a sticker for the quality Florida punk band This Bike Is A Pipe Bombat the Memphis airport. Airport police brought in a canine unit and the bike’s owner was briefly detained. Amazingly, no actual terrorists were thwarted by this ludicrous farce. If That Bike wasa Pipe Bomb, chances are it wouldn’t come so neatly labeled.
Meanwhile, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is directing a wide-ranging review of the department’s ability to prevent and respond to a variety of terrorism-related calamities. Hopefully she’ll take this opportunity to let me bring my toothpaste back through the airport.
