“„I would like to say tonight that if the American people will let the Republicans back in charge, the 60 percent of this bill that won’t be spent until after the next election, we’ll cut it off and let it go to the Americans.
Left out of both of these stories is the fact that only 33 percent of Americans, according to Gallup, oppose the stimulus. Also left out is the fact that multiple Republicans who voted against the stimulus (but not Gohmert) have returned to their districts to brag about projectsthat will be coming home, thanks to the stimulus.
This is a strange media moment, in which Republicans and CNBC hostscan argue that a wave of populist outrage is endangering the Democrats who want to shell out money for special projects and mortgage rescues, even though most Americans are fine with both ideas.
