Whining about Rush Limbaugh’s media coverage: it’s all the rage! Here’s Sen. John Cornyn(R-Texas), head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee:
According to Politico newspaper yesterday, this coordinated strategy began with “conversations and email exchanges” taking place “in and out of the White House” between former Clinton political operative James Carville, the political team at the Democrat National Committee, and White House staff. The article goes on to note that “a senior White House aide has been tasked with helping to guide the Limbaugh strategy.”
This is an outrage. It appears the Obama Administration has forgotten that the salaries of White House staff are paid for by you the taxpayer.
Markets are plunging, businesses are cutting jobs and families are growing more anxious every day. Moments like this demand the kind of cooperation and new way of doing business that Obama has promised. Instead, those around him are taking to the airwaves and the pages of our nation’s newspapers to carry out a campaign intended to change the subject and divert attention from what matters most: finding a way to work together to get our economy moving again.
And here was Boehner, in his waning days as House majority leader, explaining to John Gibsonof Fox News why Sen. John Kerry’s (D-Mass.) botched “stuck in Iraq” joke was the most important issue of early November 2006.
GIBSON: You really think it’s a four or five day story?
BOEHNER: If he’s not going to apologize, we’re going to beat him to death until he does.
That was different, I guess.
