Earlier this month, former GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee took a stagein the coal country of Southwest Virginia and, stumping for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell, told the** **Tazewell County crowdthat the people of Northern Virginia “aren’t necessarily thinking the same way folks like you and I think.”
We can’t let one vote get left behind here because there’s gonna be some folks up there near the Beltway, and I need to let you know — I’m sure you already know this — but they aren’t necessarily thinking the same way folks like you and I think.
They really believe that we oughta just be really nice and not ever dig into the earth and get our energy out of there. I guess it’s OK to get it out of somebody else’s earth, just not our own.
And they may have never fully understood how hard it is for a lot of people to put a paycheck together to be able to feed a family.
Around lunchtime today, Huckabee will be in Tysons Corner, Virginia, stumping for state attorney general hopeful Ken Cuccinelli. Tysons is about a dozen miles from the White House and a stone’s throw from the Beltway. Who wants to wager that Huckabee won’t repeat his earlier remarks?
