Avid observers of the circus surrounding Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s nomination to the Supreme Court may be interested to know that her answers to the Senate Judiciary Committee’s questionnaire were completed in record time and are now available hereon the Judiciary Committee’s Website — all 172 pages of them.
My own quick perusal hasn’t revealed anything particularly earth-shattering or groundbreaking, which isn’t surprising given the painstaking attention that every previous word and opinion of Sotomayor’s has received since President Obama announced her nominationlast week. (Wow, it’s only been a week?)
Expect more ink to be spilled and talking heads to chime in on her every answer, from descriptions of her most important legal opinions to the letters to the editor of the Daily Princetonian that she wrote as a college student 35 years ago. Anything that even alludes to race or gender is sure to get microscopic scrutiny.
