The anti-gay marriage group, which pre-emptively declared victory over New Hampshire’s stalemated marriage legislation, sends out a statement responding to this week’s passage. Executive Director Brian Brown:
“„I helped found NOM because I believe that values voters need new avenues for political influence. No more paper tigers. No more Potemkin villages. Stay tuned: This fight is not over. We look forward to working with local leaders to find and energize the pro-marriage voters in New Hampshire and across this great country of ours.
There isn’t a lot of detail, but the gist of the plan is to elect a Republican governor in 2010 — something local political wags view with skepticism, given that Gov. John Lynch (D-N.H.) is so moderate he refused to sign marriage legislation until it provided protections for churches. More from Brown:
“„This week, we’ll be picking up the family and moving again–this time to the nation’s capital, where NOM will be opening a new national office. Yes, my wife IS a saint. Thank God for homeschooling!
