One important point: Taitz, whose command of the facts and of citizenship law can be best described as “shaky,” has had the most luck convincing lower-level Republican elected officials to listen to her. Their worries have bubbled up into local media and the offices of national Republicans.

9/11 conspiracy theorists tried some similar strategies, but for whatever reason (often because Fox News jumped on the stories) legislators were less bold about putting their names next to the “truthers” and pushing for their causes.
