The former and all-but-certain future GOP presidential candidate is coming out next Marchwith a book tentatively titled “No Apology: The Case for American Greatness.” Motoko Rich reports that it will give us Romney’s “views on how to create a stronger economy, military and families, and his vision on jobs, education, health care, energy and citizenship.”
That’s an interesting evolution for Romney; his 2004 book “Turnaround”was a memoir of running the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, a fairly straightforward business book that happened to be published by Regnery. The dirty work of writing a campaign book went to Hugh Hewitt, the conservative radio host, who penned “A Mormon in the White House?” and gave conservatives an incredibly sunny view of a man whose every flip-flop could be explained away. And it’s a different tack that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee took, publishing a rather vicious memoirabout the 2008 election days after it was over.
Something to watch out for: how close the release dates of Romney’s book and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s book are, and the way that they’re viewed as opening media salvos for 2012.
