Taegan Goddard has the scoop:
An early look at a new Public Policy Polling survey finds that among North Carolina Republicans, a stunning 47% think President Obama was not born in United States, while 24% say he was and 29% are not sure.
Of course, since Obama won a whopping 4% of the North Carolina Republican vote last year, 24% represents a massive improvement; if every Republican who thought Obama was a citizen voted for him in 2012, he’d carry the state handily.
In related “birther” news, Rep. John Sullivan (R-Okla.) spooked his constituentsby telling them (accurately but still strangely) that the president “can’t even show a long-form birth certificate.”
