All I have so far is an Associated Press story, and the AP doesn’t like bloggers, so I don’t want to blockquote anything. (Seriously, McCain hasn’t even tweeted anythingin 24 hours. Tsk.) But Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the failed presidential candidate and ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, reportedly endorsed sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan and said that doubling the number of Marines in Helmand Province could lead to “significantly more success.” What, no one told him it’s a sideshow? According to the AP, McCain wasn’t much more specific about how many additional troops ought to be deployed: “McCain declined to say exactly how many more troops he thought were needed before learning the general’s views on how the war is going,” the wire service reports.
