Good catchby Paul Bedard, froma town hall meeting where first-term conservative Rep. Parker Griffith (D-Ala.) was asked if he’d support Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for Speaker of the House again.
I would not vote for her. Someone that divisive and that polarizing cannot bring us together.
What Griffith is suggesting is not unprecedented. Rep. Gene Taylor (R-Miss.) voted against Pelosi in 2005, opting instead for … Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) But Taylor turned around voted for Pelosi in 2007, when the procedural vote for speaker actually mattered. Griffith committed to something fairly irksome to party leadership, and something he’d be hard-pressed to stand by if, say, Democrats hold a mere one-seat majority.
