After all the controversial distractions surrounding the health care debate to date — the claims of death panels, pulling the plug on grandma, etc. — it’s clear that Democrats want to use President Obama’s speech Wednesday as a pivot to return the conversation to one about the policy of overhauling a broken health care system.

Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the first question to the House Speaker didn’t probe the Democrats’ strategy on the public option or malpractice reform or any other in a long list of meaty provisions that could affect tens of millions of Americans. Rather, the reporter wanted to know if House leaders intend to censure Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) for his screaming episode.
