Signal Goes Dead as McCain Spox Gets Tough Question

I was just watching MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell grill McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds about the various lies put forth by the campaign. It was just getting good — O’Donnell asked if we can expect Sen. John McCain to admit he was wrong for saying Palin had never requested an earmark — and Bounds began to dance. He started saying something about how the Wall Street Journal article cited by O’Donnell didn’t factor in something about Obama — and then Tucker’s signal went dead.
ARRRRGH!!!
O’Donnell indicated it was a “technical difficulty,” and promised to allow Bounds back on the air to finish answering the question. I’m not exactly holding my breath for that.
Perhaps it was a glitch on MSNBC’s part. Maybe it is a coincidence, but these technology failures have a tendency to happen at very advantageous moments for the campaign — much like when a reporter who was aggressively questioning former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani on a McCain campaign conference call was suddenly disconnected.
The campaign certainly has no love for MSNBC, which many perceive has a liberal bias — a McCain campaign spokesperson recently joked that the network probably wouldn’t be landing a much-sought after interview with the GOP vice presidential nominee any time soon. The MSNBC media relations line has been busy for more than half an hour, but I’ll keep trying to find out what happened. I’ll update if I get a definitive answer.
