HUDSON, Wis. — We just arrived at Sen. John McCain’s town hall meeting here. Perhaps the Arizona senator needs to add an irony adviser to his staff. Keep in mind that this event is supposed to be devoted to women and women’s issues. The meeting was hosted by J&L Steel Erectors’ (I’ll leave that one alone) — a company that just screams "femininity" — and we were greeted by an all-male vocal quintet serenading the mostly female audience with such ditties as "Take Me Out To The Ballgame," and of course, the women’s lib classic, "Let Me Call You Sweetheart."
The quintet left the stage after performing the national anthem, and was replaced by music over the PA. We are now five or six songs in, and I have yet to hear one performed by a female artist.
C’mon, McCain campaign staff, this is too easy. You guys aren’t even trying.
[UPDATE: To be fair, it turns out the CEO of J&L Steel Erectors is a woman. That's the connection.]
