The American Principles Project has just launchedExpelJennings.org, a blog dedicated to ousting Kevin Jennings from the Department of Education via online activism. The spokesman for the effort: Robert P. George, a Princeton University professor who also serves as chairman of the board of the National Organization for Marriage. In a video for the site, he links Jennings to a radical agenda that’s destroying innocence in America.
“The innocence of children is a very important value,” says George, speaking from inside his office. “It’s a value that our own culture has neglected. And the price of that neglect has been concrete harm, real harm, to an awful lot of innocent young people.”
From there, George makes the case that Jennings is a radical who wants to teach “pro-sexual liberationist, pro-homosexualist propaganda” in schools. As he speaks, there are images of books like “Heather Has Two Mommies” and pictures of Jennings with other activists — including actress Jeri Ryan, whom political junkies remember as the aggrieved wife in the (heterosexual) sex scandal that took down Republican U.S. Senate nominee Jack Ryan in 2004.
“Children don’t need to be learning about homosexual practices in elementary school,” says George. “They don’t need to be learning about sexual practices of any type in elementary school. But Kevin Jennings, people who are associated with him, have been promoting just that. Jennings is the author of a foreword of a book called ‘Queering Elementary Education.’ Well, we don’t need elementary education to be ‘queered.’”
