There will be no cloture vote on a $245 billion proposalto prevent pay cuts to Medicare doctors, according to the office of Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), who sponsored the bill.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed a motionyesterday to hold a cloture vote on the bill Monday — the procedural move required to defeat filibusters. But Stabenow spokeswoman Nkenge Harmon indicated today that a deal has been worked out to bring the bill directly to the floor Tuesday instead.
“Right now we’re figuring out what the debate and amendment process will be,” Harmon said in an email.
No word yet from GOP leaders why they’ve agreed not to fight $245 billion in new deficit spending.
