A suicide bomber killed at least 40 people and injured 140 in Kabul Monday morning, when he rammed a car into two Indian diplomatic vehicles at the gates of the Indian Embassy. According to The New York Times, no group has claimed responsibility for the blast. Some Afghan officials said they suspect the bombing was an attempt by Pakistanis affiliated with the Taliban to pursue the 61-year-old feud between Pakistan and India over the partitioning of the Indian subcontinent in 1947.
Media reports called the blast Kabul’s "deadliest blast this year," but pointed out that the attack was the second in Afghanistan’s capital this year, including an assassination attempt on Afghan President Hamid Karzai in April.
