It continues with an op-edin The Washington Post on “Why I commuted Maurice Clemmons’s sentence.” On this issue, the problem conservatives havewith Huckabee, who as governor of Arkansas freed the suspect in last month’s murder of four Washington State police officers, is his refusal to accept blame and move on, and that won’t be fixed by this.
I can’t explain why he wasn’t prosecuted properly for the parole violations, or why he was allowed to make bail in Washington and was not incarcerated earlier for crimes committed there. I take responsibility for my actions, but not for the actions of others, nor for the misinformed words of commentators.
