Chocola took over the Club for Growth this year after Pat Toomey left to run for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, and through the organization, Chocola has already proven his power over elections. The Club helped Marco Rubio remain viable in Florida over Charlie Crist; in backing Doug Hoffman in NY-23, the organization may have scared party committees out of similarly competitive races between moderates and conservatives in 2010. After two rough Republican cycles (one of which cost Chocola his congressional seat in Indiana), the Club is set to run rematch candidates such as Andy Harris in Maryland, spend millions against Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Penn.), and, finally, move Congress to the right.
