Brown’s “People’s Seat!” slogan appears on as many signs as his own name. One reason why–it avoids the macabre feeling that this version of the slogan produces. The man holding the sign wouldn’t give me a name: “I don’t know where you’re really from.”

President Obama’s visit inspired a ton of mockery which the Brown campaign exploited expertly. Its message, aided by Coakley’s verbal stumbling, is that she is an aloof puppet of the machine-run government that isn’t listening to them.

It’s a good thing “painting red” is a well-understood way of saying “make Republican,” or else I’d have read this as some sort of Chainsaw Massacre statement.
